Founded in 2018, our team has over 10 years of event management experience with sport-related events.


Some of our team members have been involved in planning or executing some of the nation’s most iconic events such as Super Bowl LIII, 2019 Concacaf Champions League, and the 2018 SEC Championship.


We are based in Atlanta, GA, but we follow the fun! If you have an event idea, we can make it happen.

Meet Our Team

Portia Benbow, Owner

Established in 2018, Portia Benbow founded SportOps Event Management as a result of her passion for sport operations and event management. She is a highly skilled operations and logistics event manager with an undeniable desire to serve and operate in excellence.

Since 2005, she has worked in sport administration and operations at both the collegiate and professional level for esteemed organizations such as the Atlanta Dream (2018), Georgia State University Women’s Basketball (2015-2018), University of Indianapolis Women’s Basketball (2011-2012) and the Georgia Institute of Technology Women’s Basketball Team (2005-2006).

In 2018, Portia joined the Major Events team at Mercedes- Benz Stadium, Home to the Atlanta Falcons and The Atlanta United. In this role she helped plan and/or execute 18 + Major Events including the Atlanta Falcons Draft Party, several Atlanta United 40K-70K Soccer Matches, the 2018 SEC Championship, and Super Bowl LI.

Since transitioning from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, she has continued to work in event management at an event venue in West Atlanta. In her current role as Event Manager, she oversees the execution of various social, corporate, and community events.

Macarri Wilkerson,
Operations Assistant

Macarri joined SportOps in 2020 and serves as our Lead Operations Assistant. She is instrumental in maintaining our company database, vendor management, and serving as a on-site lead on event days. She also handles a lot of administrative and operational behind the scene tasks.

Macarri has a Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science from Kennesaw State University and will graduate with her Masters Degree in Sports Administration from Georgia State University in May 2021. In addition to working with SportOps, Macarri is also a Game Operations Graduate Assistant at the Galloway School in Atlanta, GA and is a Superisor at Terrapin Taproom at the Atlanta Braves Stadium. Past experience also includes; Guest Services- Truist Park (formerly known as SunTrust Park); 2020 Final Four (Pre-COVID); 2019 SEC Championship Hospitality

Shawnte’ Curtis,
Operations Assistant

Shawnte joined the SportOps team in 2020 and serves as an Operations Assistant. Shawnte has been instrumental in enhancing our business development and marketing strategies. On event days, she assists in volunteer management and our registration process.

Shawnte is currently an undergraduate student with a 4.0GPA in the Sports Administration program at Georgia State University and will graduate with her Bachelors in Fall 2022. Past experience also includes: National Bahamian Softball Team Member; Dr. Pepper SEC Fan Fare 2019.

Asia Stovall,
Social Media Assistant

Asia joined SportOps in 2021 and serves as our Social Media Assistant. In addition to event day duties, Asia focuses on generating and posting content on all of our social media platforms. Asia also works Georgia State Athletics as a Ticket Operations and Marketing Graduate Assistant. Past experience also includes: Nike Tournament of Champions; Special Events, Sport Operations- Champaign Park District; Marketing volunteer- Final Four 2020 (Pre-COVID).

Asia has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation and Park Administration with a Minor in Business Administration. She will graduate with her Masters in Sports Administration from Georgia State University in May 2021.

DJ Seay,
Event Day Operations Assistant

DJ joined SportOps in 2020 and serves as an Event Day Operations Assistant and is instrumental in the setup, breakdown, and other operational tasks on event days.

DJ has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Administration from Georgia State University and comes to us with experience in ticket and membership sales at GSU and guest service experience as a Super Bowl Host Volunteer.

Kenneth Benbow,
Event Day Operations Assistant

Kenneth joined SportOps in 2020 and also serves as an Event Day Assistant. He is also instrumental in the setup and breakdown of event equipment and spaces, but also serves as our resident “handy man”.

Portia also serves as the Co-Commissioner for the Atlanta Entertainment Basketball Women’s Pro-Am League and as an Event Manager for the I Hoop Too Foundation, a youth non-profit organization.

Portia is happily married to her husband Kenneth and has an amazing son, Kenneth Jr.. Past experience also includes: Event Operations, Riverside EpiCenter.
